Serving Jackson, MS
At Blackburn CDJR, we love serving all of our kind clients in Vicksburg, Mississippi and surrounding cities like Jackson. Jackson is the largest city in the state and also serves as the state capitol. It has a rich history, both musical and otherwise, and many things to appreciate about both its past and its present.
Jackson earned its name from General Andrew Jackson, who played a significant role at the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812 and later went on to become the seventh president and the founder of the Democratic Party.
Like any good city, Jackson is situated on an important body of water, the Pearl River. The river runs down Mississippi and forms the border between our state and Louisiana before it drains into the Gulf of Mexico. It's home to wildlife like bears and sturgeon, and its marshes have been used for many scientific studies.
Jackson is known as the "City with Soul" in reference to the many blues, gospel, and jazz singers and musicians who have come out of the metropolis. Today, the city continues to celebrate its artistic history with attractions like Thalia Mara Hall. This venue regularly hosts a variety of performances, from ballets to operas to concerts.
Kids can explore everything from art to science to local history at the Mississippi Children's Museum, located in LeFleur's Bluff State Park. The park is also home to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, so a visit to this landmark is sure to keep the whole family occupied for a day. The Jackson Zoo is just a short ways away, but can take up a whole day itself. If the weather is less than perfect, you can head to the Russell C. Davis Planetarium to catch a compelling and educational planetarium show that's out of this world.
There's plenty to see and do in Jackson, Mississippi, and even more to learn about how this city grew into itself. If you are from the Jackson area and are in the market for a new or used vehicle, trust us when we say it's worth the drive to Blackburn Motor Company!
