While St. Patrick's Day can be one of the most fun days of the year, it can also be extremely dangerous due to unsafe drivers on the road.

Here are a few simple steps you can take to make sure that you get home safely on St. Patrick's Day.

  •          Plan your day/night ahead of time, including your driving arrangements. You will be less likely to make a poor decision later.
  •          Either plan to remain entirely sober, or spend the day with a trusted friend who will commit to staying sober and driving you home.
  •          Never let anyone you know drive drunk, and if you see a drunk driver, call the police and alert them of the driver's location.
  •          Despite your best efforts, if you find yourself inebriated even though you had planned to drive, simply do not do it. Call a cab, call a friend, or go somewhere safe and wait.
  •          Lastly, it's always useful to keep a list of phone numbers for taxis, sober friends, and other reliable ways to get home - just in case.

Please stay safe this St. Patrick's Day, and never, ever get behind the wheel while under the influence.
